Minister for Women, Poverty Alleviation and Children Rosy Akbar has welcomed the increase in the ministry’s budget for 2015.

The Ministry was allocated a total of $44.8m which was an increase by $4.4m.
Akbar says she is very pleased with the budget allocation.

“Given the new portfolio for Children in the ministry certainly this increase is going to help us is going to assist us to carry out our work to take our ministry forward.”

The Government will also be allocating $500,000 for Child Protection and another $500,000 has been put aside for the 2015 Women’s Expo.
