The government today granted a mining lease to Amex Resources Limited.

The Australian company that has been doing exploration works will now mine iron ore from the Ba river.

The company has been granted a 21 year operating license.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says this project will provide full time employment to around 300 people and short time job to almost 50 people.

This is the second mining license given by the Fiji government as the Bauxite Mining license was granted last year.
