Minimal damage in Southern Lau: Leweniqila

The National Disaster Management Office has confirmed receiving all reports from the four villages in Ono-i-Lau.

Director DISMAC Anare Leweniqila told FBC News that reports gathered on the ground have confirmed there was minimal damage.

“Ono-i-Lau reports have indicated that seven dwellings have been affected, that includes one teacher’s quarters and three houses are partially destroyed while the other three have been completely destroyed, the other sector that sustain damage is the agriculture sector which is mainly on crops.”

Leweniqila says they are still verifying the reports with various village headman as assessments continue in their village.

He says the aerial assessment that will soon be conducted will determine the assistance that will be sent to these affected islands
