April 4, 2012 5:01 am

Fifty military officers together with the FSC workers have begun the cleaning process at the Rarawai Sugar Mill in Ba from this morning.

The Fiji Sugar Corporation Executive Chair-Abdul Khan has confirmed to FBC news that this arrangement has become possible after the Prime Minister and Minister for Sugar Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama visited the sugar mill yesterday afternoon.

Khan says the FSC is thankful to the Prime Minister and his government for providing military officers to help clean up the Rarawai Sugar Mill.

He says the amount of debris, silt and mud is not to the extent of what was seen during the flooding in January.

Khan says the FSC is doing its best to ensure the beginning of this year’s crushing is not held up for too long as the other three sugar mills are expected to begin crushing towards the end of next month or early June.
