Milestone achievement for Fiji's EVR process

Fiji is on course for the 2014 elections with over half a million Fijians registered so far.

The second round of voter registration from the 10th of November to the 7th of this month recorded 17,295 registrations, bringing the total number of
Fijians registered to 504, 588.

This however, excludes figures from the outer islands as teams have yet to submit their numbers.

Elections Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is a milestone achievement.

“We’ve exceeded the half a million mark and we’re obviously very grateful to all the Fijians who’ve come forward, 17, 000 so far have come forward and registered. The registration will now close again to allow for the adjudication process.”

In the second round of registrations, 9,074 people registered in the central division, 222 in the east, 6,282 in the west and 1, 717 in the northern division.
