October 23, 2018 12:51 am

Head of the Media Industry and Development Authority, Ashwin Raj has commended the Fijian media for the political coverage so far.

With registration with MIDA and accreditation from the Fijian Elections Office needed for elections coverage for both local and overseas media, Raj is reminding all journalists to ensure more than ever that they are following the media code of ethics.

“The media has been a very robust one, so far there has been no restriction in terms of access to the media, political bias is always an issue and you know in such a fraught political climate as you can expect on the cusp of an election, bias is always going to be an issue but this is where the media need to ensure that they’re accurate, they’re balanced, they’re fair kicks in. The media is also going to be a very important tool in terms of disambiguating you know news from fake news.”
