Carpenters Group Fiji Limited has clarified that the structural integrity of their MHCC building in Suva has not been compromised.

Company Director – Daniel Whippy says the company has thoroughly inspected the building and the construction site to ensure its safety.

Whippy was responding to concerns raised on social media over the weekend that has since gone viral in which a patron of the complex witnessed the floor cracking.

He says the company’s overseas engineers today will conduct a joint inspection with the Suva City Council and the Ministry of Employment’s Occupational Health and Safety unit.

Meanwhile, SCCs Director Engineering Vulisere Tukana says the construction has been approved for 16 new levels.

Tukana adds that some horizontal movement is expected given the existing structure and the on-going construction.
