Methodist Church to raise $3m at annual conference

The Methodist Church in Fiji aims to collect three million dollars during the weeklong conference currently underway at the Furnival Park in Toorak, Suva.

Methodist Church Acting General Secretary Reverend Jeremiah Waqainabete has confirmed the church has already collected one point five million dollars from the member’s levies, while the other one point five million is expected to be collected during this weeklong conference.

Rev Waqainabete says the money will go towards the work of the church.

“It’s mainly for the financing for the mission of the church for example the training of our theological student who will become church workers and also go out to serve likewise with the departments that we have which is serving creating formulating materials for church members and also non church members to sort of enlighten them of what the church mission is all about.”

The Annual Conference which began yesterday saw schools as well as Tertiary institutions and various government departments participating in singing hymns.
