August 24, 2015 7:18 pm

The Methodist Church Annual Conference 2015 will make major changes, especially in the role of women.

The President of the Methodist Church, Reverend Tevita Nawadra revealed this yesterday when he opened the Methodist Annual Conference 2015 in Suva.

“One of the major changes, the position of women, usually before we have the Deaconesses’ even though they are ordained, they were not regarded as sort of ordained, they were regarded as lay people and that’s what we wanted to clear, for them to be ordained.”

Nawadra says Deaconesses’ also play a very important role in the church as they look after the services of the church.

Today’s agenda will discuss changes of the churches code of conduct and the Connectional Plan, focusing on encouraging church members in Fiji to have a closer relationship with the God they serve.
