With the Coke Games starting tomorrow, sales for businesses in Suva have quickly picked up.

FBC News visited several retail outlets today, only to find out students, parents and old scholars were out in a last minute rush to get their hands on various merchandise.

CK’s Suva Bargain Centre, Manager Jitesh Patel says this is one of the many events most businesses look forward to for big sales and their staff also get involved in the games fever.

Patel says they supply merchandising for some top schools and staff are all hands on deck for the next three days of the annual competition.

“ Coca-Cola Games is quite big for us as a business as well because like we are one of the sponsors for Marist, ACS AND Saint Joseph teams and we do also do full merchandising. Big schools like ACS, St Joseph and Marist they’ve got a lot of old boys, old scholars and they demand quite a lot as well as the school. So we mostly supply to the schools and they distribute to their students.”

FBC News also spoke with some students who took the day off from school to shop for merchandise with their parents.

One student bought his school tee shirts and vests, a different one to wear for each day of the three day competition.

A couple of businesses says they will also be setting up booths outside the ANZ Stadium from tomorrow to sell t-shits, vests and flags.
