The National Mass Immunization campaign for the Meningococcal Disease will begin from the 14th of this month.

With the vaccine arriving into the country today, the Ministry of Health is targeting over three hundred thousand children who fall in the age category of one to nineteen.

Minister Rosy Akbar says the Meningococcal Vaccine is safe and effective and the immunization program will first be rolled out in high risk areas.

“The rollout of the immunisation campaign will commence within days of the arrival of the vaccine. Initial rollout will be in the Central and Ra subdivision in the West and it will continue until the target age group across Fiji have been vaccinated.”

Akbar is urging parents to support the Ministry and ensure their kids are vaccinated.
