Men also diagnosed with breast cancer

Out of the 335 people diagnosed with breast cancer, seven of them are male.

Consultant general surgeon, Iferemi Waqainabete says, breast cancer features for men, are slightly different from women.

“The risk factors for men developing breast cancers are maybe a little bit different from women, obviously women is using the contraceptive pill, having children much late in life, but for men it is the broad risk factors, which is possibly something such as obesity and not looking after themselves.”

Waqainabete says it is important to know that breast cancer does not only happen to women but man too.

He said one in every 100 people diagnosed with this cancer could possibly be male.
