Families of the two men from Bua who have been missing at sea for over a week, held a thanksgiving and memorial service for the duo this morning.
70-year-old Losio Vulai of Makolei Village and 58-year-old Ameri Ratucoko of Vuya Village left for a fishing trip on Easter Saturday morning but failed to return.
Speaking at the service, Solevu Parish – Priest Father Ilisoni Kolikoli pleaded with the families to accept the Lord’s calling in the lives of the two men.
Alosio Vulai’s wife, Nani Vulai says it’s been hard for their children to accept that their father is no more. They have five children.
She says they keep on hoping that he would turn up.
Vulai and his cousin Ratucoko had left to catch some fish for Easter.
They were travelling in a 15 horsepower fiberglass boat and failed to return home in the evening.
The search and rescue operation had to be called off several times due to the unfavorable weather.
On Saturday, police informed the two families that they have called off the search.
