Memorial service brings closure to families

An internal investigation is now underway at the Ministry of Works into the disappearance of three employees who went missing at sea on December first.

Permanent secretary – Commander Francis Kean an incident like this, will never be allowed to happen again.

A memorial service was held this morning for the three men who’ve been missing for twenty seven days now…believed to have died at sea.

Relatives and work mates paid final tribute to Alipate Tavainaqara, Josaia Sukanaivalu and Jone Dulase.

Jone Raikabula is Jone Dulase’s father…he says this service has brought a sense of closure and peace for the family.

Time will ease their pain, but knowing that the deaths could have been avoided has left burning questions in Raikabula’s mind.

The ministry has promised to put in place more safety measures so that a tragedy such as this may never re-cur.
