Mediation skills in demand

In a bid to improve the Industrial Relations climate, encourage good faith relation and foster effective conflict resolution systems, a four day training session is underway in Suva.

Employment and Industrial Relations Minister, Jone Usamate says the mediation training is necessary because it is an alternative dispute resolution mechanism that is popular.

Usamate says due to the demands the Ministry is focusing on training its staff and retaining the professional skills.

The Employment Minister encouraged the participants of the workshop to acquire the techniques and skills to be more effective and efficient in resolving conflicts.

24 participants are attending the training, 20 of which are from the Employment Ministry and 4 from other Ministries.

The training is being conducted by the Singapore Mediation Centre Trainers.
