The Fiji Sugar Corporation believes mechanical cane harvesters will continue to ease the shortage of cane cutters in all cane belt areas.

According to FSC’s annual report mechanical harvesters that have been deployed to the field are proving to be very helpful for farmers.

The shareholders were told during a recent AGM that more mechanical harvesters will be brought in to assist in the harvest.

This year inmates from Lautoka and Suva were brought in to help in harvesting cane between Nadi and Rakiraki.
