Mataitoga presents credentials to Brunei Darussalam

The bilateral partnership between Fiji and Brunei Darussalam will be enhanced in areas of mutual development interests.

This follows the presentation of credentials of the Non-Resident High Commissioner of Fiji to Brunei Darussalam.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Fiji to Japan, Isikeli Mataitoga, presented his letters of credence to Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at Istana Nurul Iman Palace earlier this week.

Sultan Haji congratulated Mataitoga on his appointment and assured him of the support from the Government of Brunei Darussalam.

He also expressed to the High Commissioner his wish to visit Fiji.

Mataitoga also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs II of Brunei Darussalam, Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof.

Both parties expressed interests to develop their diplomatic engagements on the principles of mutual friendship and collaboration.

There are opportunities for Fiji in a number of cooperation areas, especially in the socioeconomic development and trade.

Brunei Darussalam is well known for its energy rich and oil resource developments.
