Masjid Open Day promotes unity

The Masjid Al-Haqq in Milverton Road Suva held its first ever Open Day.

Members used this opportunity to promote unity and educate the public about Islam.

Mohammed Anwar Sahib who is a Professor of Islam in New Zealand says acts of terrorism around the world have been wrongly blamed on the religion and its followers.

He says the world needs to now the true calling of muslims is not violence.

“People have misconceptions, they have been misinformed and they don’t really know what possibly true Islam is all about. So we thought in corporation with this Masjid and local brothers here, they invited us to come so that we can help them out and let them know what truly Islam is all about.”

The Masjid has its own library and people have been encouraged to come and learn about Islam.
