Green light given to vessels to operate

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji says the shipping companies have been advised to normalize their services.

This after two vessels of the Goundar Shipping Limited were given the green light to provide services today to Rotuma and Vanuabalavu.

Authority acting chief executive, Captain Philip Hill says the shipping services in the Western division have already normalized.

“We have resumed operation for shipping services in the west and progressively we have resumed some of the services in the Central Division from Suva.”

Captain Hill has clarified they have also resumed marine clearances for fishing vessels.

Small boats which are less than 10 meters are advised not to proceed to sea until Tropical Cyclone Mona is well passed the Fiji group.
