Mara ready to take up Secretary-General role

Mara signed his contract with the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Yogesh Karan today.

Ocean conservation, climate change adaptation, and building resilience will be some of the major aims for newly-appointed Secretary-General.

Solo Mara who signed his contract with the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Yogesh Karan today, says looking forward to continuing the great momentum and delivering the core objectives of the Forum.

“This is an important platform where we bring together civil societies and the Private sector and we learn from and get advice from the Private sector in particular on how we can realize the business application of conservation.”

Meanwhile, Yogesh Karan says the Office of the Prime Minister will work closely with Pacific Island Development Forum (PIDF) in terms of further pursuing the agenda on climate change, renewable energy, trade, and investment to name a few.

Twelve Pacific Island countries are currently part of the PIDF.
