Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has fulfilled a commitment he made last year to two communities from the District of Tunuloa.

The boats and engines were funded under the PM’s 2017/2018 Small Grants Scheme.

Each of the 40 hp engines costs $6,824.00 whilst the 23ft fibreglass boat is worth $10,160.00 each.

Manukasi is not accessible by road, thus Bainimarama says the boat and engine will not only serve as a means of transportation but also a doorway to economic opportunities in turn raising standards of living.

The boat and engine for Koroivonu Village is expected to help the Tui Tunuloa make regular visits to villages not accessible by roads

Bainimarama says this project is a testament to Government’s commitment to providing reliable transportation for rural communities to assist them in accessing healthcare services, employment, educational opportunities, and other important services.
