A 52-year-old taxi driver has been remanded in custody for allegedly assaulting his 40-year-old wife who is eight months pregnant.

The man is charged with one count of assault.

It’s alleged the couple had a heated argument at their home in Nasinu on the 23rd of this month, when the accused assaulted his wife, causing injuries.

Prosecution objected to bail because of wife’s condition and the accused has been issued a Domestic Violence Restraining Order.

The taxi driver is expected to reappear in court on the 14th of March.
