A 38-year-old man who is alleged to have raped his nine-year-old niece pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The matter was called before High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar at the Suva High Court this morning.

It is alleged that between 1st November, 2017 and 31st November, 2017, he raped his niece in Kadavu while he was staying with the girl’s family.

The matter will be called again in June for pre-trial conference whereby the trial date will be decided.

The accused is remanded.
