A 30-year-old farmer who allegedly caused the death of a 30-year-old man in Nakasi in August pleaded guilty to his charges in the Suva High court this morning.

Ratu Semi Kabakaba Degei of Waila Nausori is charged with one count of manslaughter, one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and one count of drinking and driving.

The accident occurred at around 7am on 24th August at the junction of Vavalagi Road in Nakasi when the accused who is alleged to have been driving under the influence of alcohol hit the victim who was walking with a 26-year-old co-worker.

Degei informed the court that he has taken the plea on his own free will.

The matter has been adjourned to 11th February next year.
