Man in custody for allegedly aiding Deshwar Dutt

A 50-year-old man is being questioned for allegedly aiding escapee Deshwar Kishore Dutt.

Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu confirmed to FBC news that the man who is from the Western division and was taken in for questioning over the weekend.

Tudravu said that they have been gathering information following which the 50-year-old man was arrested.

He remains in custody.

Meanwhile, Dutt escaped from the Nadi Magistrates court in December last year.

He had also escaped from the Suva High court in April 2017.

Dutt was convicted of two counts of aggravated robbery and was sentenced in absentia to 15 years imprisonment.

He was later arrested in May after a team of police officers foiled a robbery at a warehouse, located along the Nadi Back Road.
