A man in his 20s is in police custody following the death of a 30-year-old man in Suva last night.

The suspect is alleged to have assaulted the victim outside the Millers Wharf at Muaiwalu in Walu Bay Suva last night.

The two were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when they tried to enter the wharf but were refused entry by the security guard.

Following this the two allegedly got into a fight whereby the suspect punched the victim who fell on the pavement and became unconscious.

He was conveyed to the CWM Hospital and was pronounced dead.

The suspect remains in custody as an investigation continues.
