A man from Valelevu whose house was raided by Police two days ago was produced at the Nasinu Magistrates Court a while ago.
36-year-old Kritesh Ram was arrested for his alleged involvement in drug-related activities.
Ram is charged with having 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine in his possession without lawful authority.
His bail was rejected after Police prosecutors informed the court that they needed more time to investigate as they have discovered another parcel from his residence containing a suspicious substance which they also believe may be an illicit drug.
The prosecutors say Police are yet to test the contents of the second package.
However, Ram’s lawyer said this was a baseless suggestion to keep his client in remand for further investigation.
The Magistrate then revealed to the court that the accused had a previous conviction of such nature earlier this year and that is a sufficient factor to keep him in custody.
The matter has been adjourned to November 15th.
