A 42-year-old father of five convicted of one count of manslaughter has been handed down a suspended sentence.

The Labasa High court heard that on 10th February 2015, William McPherson unlawfully assaulted a 57-year-old man which led to his death.

The court also heard that McPherson threw repeated punches on the deceased.

Justice Riyaz Hamza sentenced the man to 12 month imprisonment suspended for three years.
