A man charged with assaulting his cousin on Christmas Eve has been granted bail in a special court sitting yesterday.

The court heard that Rukesh Chand Paddy allegedly assaulted his cousin Vimal Chandra after a dispute broke out in a drinking party.

Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa granted bail in a sum of $300 and told the accused not to offend again.

Also a restraining order has been issued against the accused.

The case has been adjourned until January 15.
