Man facing domestic trafficking charges further remanded

A man facing charges in relation to domestic trafficking has been further remanded in custody.

Josevata Werelagi is charged with aggravated sexual servitude and three counts of domestic trafficking in children.

It is alleged that between the 18th July and the 22nd July 2015 at Suva by the use of threats or force caused a fifteen year old to enter into or remain in sexual servitude, with intent to cause that sexual servitude.

It is alleged that he obtained the possession of the fifteen year old, with intent that she be employed or used for the purpose of prostitution.

It is also alleged that he facilitated the transportation of the girl from Nausori Town to Rewa Street and in facilitating the said transport, with intent that she be used to provide sexual services.

The defense lawyer sought time to advise her client of his plea.

The matter has been adjourned to 1st February next year.
