A 30-year-old farmer of Kadavu drowned whilst drinking alcohol inside a fiber glass boat with 4 other villagers at Vunisea Harbour last Friday night.

Police spokesperson Josaia Weicavu says whilst drinking they felt the boat was sinking and they jumped out and swam towards the shore when they realized the deceased was missing.

The matter was then reported to a team of Police officers from Vunisea.

The deceased’s body was later found during the early morning of Saturday.

Police is advising members of the public not to drink alcohol while out at sea especially in an open boat.
