Man drowns while saving two children

A 28-year-old man from Natabua, Lautoka is believed to have drowned while trying to save two children at the Natadola Beach yesterday afternoon.
Police say the victim was at a picnic with members of the Rabi Methodist Western Church group when the incident occurred.
The 28-year-old noticed two children being swept towards the deep end and attempted to swim against the current to save them.
Other church members managed to save the two children while the victim disappeared,
He was found an hour later with the help of staff from the Intercontinental Resort.
He was rushed to the Sigatoka Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The drowning toll currently stands at 20 compared to 25 for the same period last year.
