A man has drowned in Savusavu after a fishing expedition.

The 33-year-old farmer left for a fishing trip in a fibre glass boat with 6 others from Vuniwai village and drowned whilst trying to retrieve his fishing gun.

Attempts were made to revive the deceased but they were all in vain.

The man’s body was then conveyed to Lakeba Health Center and was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body is awaiting post mortem at the Savusavu Hospital mortuary.
