Man dies in early morning accident

A man in his 40’s is the latest road fatality.

The deceased was hit by a taxi near Makoi in 8 Miles Nasinu as he was crossing the road at about 3am today.

Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Biu Matavou says the man was thrown onto the opposite lane by the impact, and was hit by a second oncoming vehicle.

ACP Matavou says the man is believed to have been drunk.

The taxi driver involved is currently been questioned at the Nasinu Police Station.

Man dies in early morning accident

A man has died in an accident in Nabua outside Suva this morning.

It is alleged the driver who was speeding, lost control of the vehicle and hit an electric pole.

An eye witness told FBC News he was on his way to Nausori when he heard a loud crashing sound.

He says he got off the bus and went to the crash site, and saw the driver trapped inside his car.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and took the victim’s body out of the car.

Police are yet to give details on the incident.
