A twenty-one-year-old man from Narara Village in Rakiraki has died after jumping off the Rewasa Mead Road Bridge on Sunday night.

Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro, says the victim was swimming in the Drana River with four other men, when he allegedly dived off the bridge and failed to surface.

He was later found trapped amongst roots of a tree and was rushed to the Rakiraki Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A post mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of the death.
