A 23-year-old man of Raiwaqa died at the Intensive Care Unit at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital last night after being taken in for medical treatment.

FBC News understands the man was beaten up by another man before being taken to the Raiwaqa Police Station.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms, the man was arrested on Monday morning for allegedly damaging property.

Naisoro says when he was brought in; he was taken for medical treatment and was admitted.

She says Police will await the post mortem result to ascertain the cause of death and will not make any further comments as investigations continue.

The 23 year-old was a member of the Raiwaqa Raiders Rugby League team.
