Malake Island promised electricity by next year

Villagers of Malake in Ra have been promised they will receive electricity by next year.

Minister for Infrastructure Pio Tikoduadua assured the residents of the island that around this time next year, each household will have access to power.

Tikoduadua also confirmed the Ministry has the budget to cater for the rural electrification to the island.

The Minister says that just like the water project commissioned On Thursday by the Prime Minister, the electricity cables will run from the Viti Levu mainland across the open channel to the island.

The Ministry along with the Fiji Electricity Authority will then set up electric posts before supplying power to around 135 households on the island
