The Fijian Elections Office is urging voters to make use of the 1500 texting platform to check their polling venues as people are turning up to wrong venues for pre-polling.

Supervisor of elections Mohammed Saneem says people should be well aware of their polling venues before heading out to cast their vote.

Saneem has highlighted that in some cases the voters were turned back as their names did not appear on the voters list.

“In the event as I said the name of the voter is not on the list you should use the 1500 platform to find out where you are registered to vote and then you will be able to go and vote at the location where your name is listed.”

Saneem says in some cases people are not turning up to vote which is an issue therefore the FEO will carry out a post-election survey to determine the reason for people not turning up.

“This is a voluntary voting system. The FEO cannot force anyone to come and vote but we will try and do some surveys to ascertain the reason why people did not turn up to vote.”

Meanwhile, he says for people who wish to use the FEO App can now access their polling venues via FEO results app which now has a find your venue feature.
