Major development planned for Seaqaqa

Major development works will start in Seaqaqa which was once thriving because of the sugar industry.

Seaqaqa District Officer, Akuila Lowaivau says there are plans to develop a market, bus stand and new sports facilities.

“We have just received news from the Prime Minister Office for the construction of a new stadium and that will start in September next year.”

Of the 19,000 people living in Seaqaqa, most depend on the sugar industry.
A number of businesses have been invited to start up in the mini town.

“We have invited the three commercial banks to have their ATMS here and apart from that we have talked to other businesses such as Courts and Rups for setting up their shops in Seaqaqa.”

Work on the new market and bus stand will start next year.
