Residents in a flood prone area in Luvu Lautoka are thankful that water levels have not risen due to the Tropical Depression.

Over the last few days residents have been prepared for the worst but are thankful that their fears have not materialised.

One such resident is Madhvi Naikar who lives near the seaside, and is relieved that it hasn’t flooded so far.

“The drainage system is not good here it’s not deep drains and its jungle like and when there is heavy rain the water comes on the road and then when we go to work it’s hard to go because it’s always floods.”

Another resident Josua Loga says he has been monitoring the weather closely and ensuring his family is safe.
