LTA works with police to ease traffic flow in Labasa

The Land Transport Authority is working with police in Labasa to ease traffic during peak hours.

This is part of its traffic management operation in Labasa Town.

With traffic congestion being an issue in the division, the deployment of LTA officers is part of their collaborative approach with police to improve traffic flows.

The Authority’s Chief Executive, Samuel Simpson hopes the operation will further assist motorists to enjoy shorter journey times.

Simpson says they’ve had a good response from stakeholders and the public in Labasa with the flow of traffic.

He adds the increase in cane trucks traversing the town is a particular seasonal issue which has to be managed.

As part of the operations, LTA officers’ are also inspecting wheel tax discs.

Using a vehicle on the public highway with an expired wheel tax disc is an offence and will attract the application of a traffic infringement notice.
