Concerns have been raised on a number of car racing and car show events that have been taking place on public roads.
Land Transport Authority Chief Executive, Carmine Piantedosi says they will come down hard on these drivers.
“Drivers that are thinking they can race a vehicle on a public road need to think twice about what they are doing because they are not only putting themselves at risk but any road user and this is usually the public who are walking along the footpaths or are crossing the roads which they won’t be able to stop in time if they are racing.”
Last year sixty people lost their lives on our roads out of which 24 cases were due to speeding.
While, this year, 48 people lost their lives out of which 22 were because of speeding.
