Vehicles carrying passengers without a PSV permit may lose their license if caught by the Land Transport Authority.

LTA CEO Carmine Piantedosi says they’re coming down hard on illegal operators following a huge amount of complaints received against them.

Piantedosi says most illegal operators are private drivers as well as mini buses and this is a huge concern.

“We’re making people aware of the risks with accepting travels with an illegal operator and most of that is around taking risks with the safety of yourselves. If there’s an accident there’s an issue, if you’re involved in an accident with an illegal operator. And our enforcement officers are also out there monitoring the situation.”

Piantedosi says strict penalties will be enforced on private vehicles driving private taxi and private mini-buses.
