The Land Transport Authority will increase enforcement to check on the use of e-ticketing cards.

Chief Executive Samuel Simpson, says they will be putting more officers on the roads throughout the country.

He says the Fiji Bus Operators has raised concerns that passengers are not topping up their e-transport cards and demanding for the $2 cards.

Simpson says while the $2 e-card is valuable, it is mostly intended for those who are not regular bus travelers.

They (FBOA) asked me to step up enforcement in relation to people who are traveling without the tickets, people who are overriding. Let’s say they were paying a $1.40 fare, but actually, they were traveling on the bus for many many miles further than the $1.40 fare by is their entitlement.

Simpson is advising those using public transport to plan their journey well and have sufficient credit on their e-transport cards.
