People without driving license have been urged to take advantage of an outreach program being conducted by the Land Transport Authority.
The LTA is reaching out to rural communities with defense driving courses, learners permit, license upgrade and examination.
However, fees and charges of the services rendered in the outreach remain the same and those thinking of taking advantage of the initiative are required to pay.
Chief executive Naisa Tuinaceva says, the Authority is aiming to reduce the number of illegal drivers.
“We have a big problem of these illegal drivers those who don’t have license since the inception of this program we have seen a big improvement in terms of those having proper driving license and are driving vehicles around Fiji. It’s very hard because now we are tightening up on our enforcement and we are really going places where we believe the number of illegal drivers is high. This is what we need to do just to train them just to get them license.”
