“It’s in the Central Division and also I believe in the Western division because there are a lot of illegal taxis and illegal vehicles in the west and also in the central. But there are already a lot of taxis on the road but because the government has taken the initiative to life the freeze, we have taken steps to do the zoning and to actually determine that all these are actually issued in an orderly and proper fashion so that we can have control of the number of taxis.”

Maharaj says the LTA is looking at all the logistics before the application forms will be rolled out.

The taxi permit freeze which has been in place since 2011 was lifted on January 1st.
