LTA considers change of age limit for PSV drivers

June 12, 2015 7:50 pm

With a number of changes under way at the Land Transport Authority, an area that is up for discussion is the age limit for PSV drivers.

Chief Executive Naisa Tuinaceva says it’s important to have mature drivers on our roads at all times.

“There’s a concern here about PSV drivers, their behaviour, their attitude on the roads is becoming a worrying thing for us, so we’re thinking that the age of 21 is still a young age for any driver to be given the license to look after the public, you need maturity, you need people who are responsible because of the work they do.”

With a recent increase in accidents the LTA is considering a change in the legal age for those applying for PSV licenses.

The age increase is part of a number of changes intended to improve safety on Fiji’s roads.
