One of the ways to ensuring road safety is to ensure that traffic flows smoothly says Land Transport Authority chief executive, Samuel Simpson.

Simpson says they will be strenuously working with the Fiji Roads Authority to identify traffic black spots for congestions occurring on a regular basis.

He says they could be working on a number of initiatives.

“We will be working with our colleagues to see if perhaps we can get some sort of signal phasing adjustment or changes in the road infrastructure to improve traffic flow. I haven’t seen a lot of that in Suva – but what I have seen in Suva sends a message that it is something that we need to tackle with our colleagues in FRA.”

Simpson also says in the next couple of months a LTA strategy will be published which will take them through the next number of years.
