The Land Transport Authority has acquired for four more portable scales in an effort to tackle the overloading issue on our roads.

A total of twelve thousand eight hundred and eighty trucks were weighed Fiji Wide between September and November last year to determine if they were overloading.

LTA Chair Vijay Maharaj says this scales will be in operation from this month.

“We have acquired portable scales, two portable scales are already in operations Fiji wide, there are four mobile scales that will be fitted into this mobile vehicles and they can be used anywhere on the roads.”

A total of 225 traffic infringement notices amounting to more than one million dollars were issued as well.
