December 1, 2015 3:36 am

Low value minerals and materials (LVMM) are commodities considered to be of low value to the international market but are significant to the domestic economy.

They are also of high value for development in countries such as Fiji.

Speaking at the launch of the ACP-EU Development Minerals Programme workshop, Lands Minister Mereseini Vuniwaqa says the low value minerals and metal sector has a potential to generate more direct and indirect local job.

Ministry of Land officials together with Environment, Community, Health and Safety officers’ from PNG, Tonga, Samoa and the Solomons are also part of this workshop put together by the European Union, ACP, UNDP and the Government of Fiji.

The four-day workshop ends this Friday.
